Written under author name Jos Carlyle, The Gift: An Interactive Storybook was my first full-on foray into digital interactive narrative.
I wrote it for Persian Cat Press, the company I’d co-founded to explore the question on pretty much everyone’s lips at the time: Are tablet apps the books of the future?
The company closed after we failed to secure upscale funding, which means The Gift app is no longer available. You can, however, still see the trailer for it here.
Illustrated by Dan Mynard; narrated by Nick Hughes; scored by Mamma Freedom; developed by Paire Creative; published by Persian Cat Press.
The Gift: An Interactive Storybook was shortlisted for Best Mobile Application in the 2012 Manchester How Do Awards, which recognise excellence in digital agencies across the North of England.
